Focus Stake

What I built: Focus Stake — a web app where users stake MON before starting a timed focus session. Complete the session without switching tabs or losing window focus, and the stake is returned. Break focus early, and the stake is immediately slashed into a public, live-updating "shame pool" visible to anyone on the site. Everything ; staking, slashing, refunds, happens for real on Monad Testnet via a verified smart contract, no mock data. The problem: Staying focused during work is hard, and breaking that focus (tab-switching, distraction) usually has zero real consequence. Focus Stake creates one: real financial stakes tied to real, measurable focus, with public accountability instead of private willpower. What I learned: Working through Hardhat's version differences (Hardhat 2 vs. the newer Hardhat 3 + Ignition + viem template) and what changes between them Handling on-chain event decoding to retrieve values (like session IDs) that aren't directly returned from a state-changing transaction Navigating contract verification quirks across Etherscan's v1/v2 API migration and Monad's explorer setup
