CRYO is cryogenic storage for my savings. I seal MON into a "cryopod" with a label ("RENT BUFFER — DO NOT TOUCH") and an unlock date. After that date, I withdraw everything back, free. Before that date, the only way in is an EMERGENCY THAW: 10% of the pod is incinerated — sent to 0x…dEaD — and the excuse I'm forced to type is stored onchain, permanently, on a public Hall of Weak Excuses. I built it because I impulse-spend my crypto. Every savings method I tried lives in an app that asks nicely and has an undo button; one green candle and my "long-term stack" becomes exit liquidity. CRYO works because there is no undo button: no admin, no support line, no mercy. The contract holds the funds, and breaking my own promise has a real price (loss aversion) and a public record (shame). That combination only exists onchain. The build: one dependency-free Solidity contract (~150 lines — freeze / withdraw / emergencyThaw, 14 unit tests) deployed on Monad testnet, plus a Next.js + wagmi frontend styled as a cryo-lab HUD: live pod countdowns, ice-level progress bars, and a red-alert thaw modal that shows you the burn math before you confirm. The full lifecycle is verified with real transactions — including the one where I burned my own MON and the chain recorded my excuse: "saw a dip. panicked. sorry, future me." What I learned: a good commitment device needs teeth AND drama. The 10% burn makes it rational to stay frozen; the public excuse makes it emotional. Neither works without the other.
